Paper Records: What to Toss, What to Keep - Kiplinger.com

Recently one of my students in my new "Clutter Club" Santa Fe College community education class mentioned he'd found some useful information online at Kiplinger's about which personal papers to toss or keep.

A 'friendly' reminder, when reading the above or any article about tossing financial papers, please be sure to contact your lawyer or financial advisor to see if what is recommended matches what they advise for your situation. This would be a good time to also ask if they could send you a brochure with records retention information. Save it and refer to it frequently when you purge papers. This information will help you feel more confident as you 'feed' old papers to your 'hungry' shredder!
Remember, the fewer papers you keep, the fewer to manage.
